Hello fans and friends,
I want to share the good news, that we premiered our first film, In a Cage this past Saturday, October 19th and the reviews from our guests were that the film is exceptional and awesome! I was so nervous, wondering what folks would say, but they loved it and I could not be more pleased. But that’s not all…we plan to have at least one more screening of this film before Christmas. In the meantime, we continue to wait & pray that our film is among those selected for the SLAMDANCE film festival. Announcements will be made in December and the festival is in January in Park City, Utah. Please join me in praying for our acceptance into this festival that I have had my heart set on for years.
Also, while we wait, we are continuing the filming of our TV pilot, Old Folks Like Us. It was on the back burner for a bit, but is now back on the front burner. Two more full days of filming and all shooting will be complete. I can’t wait for the fans to see part 2.
As for Vanished, we have completed filming of 60% of our scenes and will take it slow from now until the end of February. Things continue to blossom and God continues to move in this project. I am currently reviewing dozens of composers from all over the US, plus the UK which I am so excited about.
And as for our romantic comedy, This Promise I Made…we have had some major complications that we are trying to work through, but are hopeful to have our first rough cut ready by the end of November before we move on to the sound editing portion. We would covet your prayers. This film has the potential to be an amazing film, about finding true love and keeping a promise. Remember, our very special guest star in TPIM was Ken Kercheval (Cliff Barnes from DALLAS)
And finally, I am writing a brand new faith based film that will star two amazing Indiana actress: Kimberly Jo Richardson & Brenda Jo Reutebuch.
If you have not yet done so, please find our pages on Face Book and give us a *LIKE* and share our pages. We love our fans. Thank you to everyone who supports us in one form or another.
God bless,

My interview about bullying in school

Mar 20, 2013 | Posted by under Uncategorized

Hey guys, Candy here to check in. Recently, I was asked to share a story that I had not shared publicly since the fall of 2007 and that was the story of my son being bullied in school. I am always willing to talk to parents or kids about bullying. Since my son was bullied I began writing, and because of that, I have had four books on the subject published since 2006. (Available on Amazon.com) From writing books about bullying, I then branched out and started writing novels and then screenplays, and from there, I created my own company called DREAMS COME TRUE FILMS, LLC. Now I am a movie producer.

So anyhow, the anchorman from a West Lafayette, Indian television station ( WLFI TV-18) came out to my home on Friday and interviewed me for a series he is doing about adolescents. I was happy to share our story once again, and the story ran last night. I am including the link below if you’d like to watch it. By the grace of God, my son survived his years of being bullied in school and thankfully, he says he has fully recovered from the abuse he suffered at the hands of bullies for seven long years.

If you are a parent of a student being bullied, please do all you can to help your child feel safe. Make sure they understand it is not their fault, and they should never feel ashamed. If you are a parent of the bully, please make them aware that they are hurting others for no reason other than they can, and please make them stop before their victims take their own life, which is the case many times over.

Consider starting a support group and brainstorm so you can come up with solutions in your child’s school. Until next time, have a great day!

Welcome to the official Candy J. Beard website. This is where you can  read my blogs to see what’s happening currently and what we have on the horizon and where you can send me a message. Currently, Dreams Come True Films  is  in the wait stage. There is not much I hate more than waiting, but it is a part of life.

This Promise I Made is in the hands of our editor. In a Cage is in the hands of a sound man who placed the movie soundtrack and our TV Pilot, “Old Folks Like Us” is currently on You Tube and getting so many views and so many compliments! In the meantime, I am trying to pitch the show to executives to see if we can sell it. Also, while I do that, I am in the process of writing the second episode of the show, at the request of our many fans. We have had more than 1120 views on You Tube (and have only been on for a month and a week) and that number goes up daily. We are quite proud of our show and pray that we can find a buyer.

Please check it out if you have not yet watched. It can be seen on Youtube here.

And if you are on Facebook, we ask that you would look up our pages and give us a *LIKE*
those pages are as follows:

Happy New Year!

Jan 2, 2013 | Posted by under Uncategorized

Hello fans & friends. I hope you all had a great Christmas and a safe time celebrating the New Year! I cannot believe how quickly 2012 seemed to have gone! We stayed so busy in 2012, so I imagine that is why it seemed to fly right by us. Here is a re-cap of what we did in 2012…..

We spent from December 2011 until April 2012 in pre-production of our second feature film, THIS PROMISE I MADE, which is a family friendly, romantic comedy about a successful young lady looking for Mr. Right while still trying to keep a promise to care for her 75 year old grandfather. We managed to fly DALLAS star, Ken Kercheval in from California to play Dr. Christopher Webber in our film. That was the highlight of our year! Ken was such an awesome performer and he was so very gracious and treated us like long lost friends. We wrapped production, for the most part, in August.

On August 12, we filmed a short that I wrote in 2011 called “GUILTY” and it is the story of a defense attorney without a conscience. It is an excellent fantasy film. You can view it on You Tube, or by LIKING our fan page on Face Book and seeing it there. In early October, we began filming a television pilot that I created six years ago! It is called OLD FOLKS LIKE US and is the story of eight senior citizens (well, seven really. Isabelle is the youngest of the bunch and I don’t guess she is enjoying a senior discount just yet). This is a clean, family friendly comedy that we will begin pitching in about a week. The cast will gather in Indy this coming Sunday to see the pilot together, for the first time and they are so excited!

And finally, after we wrapped production on the TV Pilot, we filmed a television commercial for DORITOS and entered it into the “Crash the Super Bowl” contest. It stars Eunice Conner and we named the commercial “Worst Week Ever” because Monday – Friday, Eunice (a character that was born for the TV Pilot) suffers sad consequences every single day. Please check it out too if you get the chance. It is awesome if I do say so myself.

In 2013, we could do so much! I already have the cast of Old Folks Like Us begging me to write more episodes of the show. They have all expressed how much they loved working on the show and are praying it gets picked up by a network. I believe they all have their own ideas of where they would like to see their characters go in future episodes. In all, 2012 brought many new fans to Dreams Come True Films and it’s projects. I was very blessed to meet so many wonderful people who became great friends. Debbie Elsberry (who plays Eunice), Marilyn Milligan (Debbie’s real life sister but sitcom enemy) and Larry Wagle are just a very few of the awesome people I was blessed to become friends with in 2012.

In 2013 I would also like to produce a short film called CRIES UNHEARD. But in order to do so, I have to get permission from the city to burn a house down! I would also very much like to produce another feature film; trouble is going to be deciding which one. I have eleven more features to choose from and I love them all, so it is going to be very difficult deciding which one. We will also likely be distributing IN A CAGE, which is our first feature film and we are just beginning the long, difficult process of editing This Promise I Made. So we have our work cut out for us. Oh yeah…my husband and I are also going to be purchasing a new home in the spring, which will keep us busy as well. So probably before I know it, I’ll wake up and say “Happy New Year 2014″ because with so very much to do this year, I imagine 2012 will fly right by.

Please join me in praying this year, on a regular basis, for our troops, our country and leaders and for those less fortunate than us. If you have not yet done so, please visit our Face Book fan pages and give them a *LIKE* and if you would, please also share the links so we can gain new fans. Thank you very much for stopping by.

God bless you all.

~ Peace ~

Hello everyone,

I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving and could name at least a dozen things or people you are grateful for. It has been awhile since I blogged, and for those of you who look here for updates on what we are doing, I do apologize for the delay. In October we filmed our television pilot, “Old Folks Like Us” and we had a marvelous time. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the “seasoned” cast, and by that, I mean the older generation of actors. Most of the actors are stage theater actors and for most, this was their first time working on a TV Pilot and they adored the experience. For those of you who are fans of our feature film, This Promise I Made, and are fans of David Ross, you’d be happy to know he was among the cast members for the pilot. It is always a treat getting to work with the ever so talented David Ross. Currently, we are about 3/4 of the way through editing the pilot and then I will begin pitching it in hopes that a network will love it and want to buy it for all to enjoy. During the filming of the pilot, I discovered a brand new talented actress. Funny thing is she didn’t even know she was an actress, but put on a wig one day as a joke on me and a star was born! I am referring to my dear friend Debbie Elsberry (aka Eunice) We have so much fun when she puts on that wig.

For all of you waiting to see our first feature film, In a Cage….it won’t be too much longer now. Our sound designer tells me it should be delivered back to me before December. I have a film broker and a few distributors already waiting to see a screener of the film. I believe they will be very impressed!

Recently, we also filmed a Doritos commercial for the “Crash the Super bowl” contest. It is called A ROUGH WEEK. If you are on Face book, I encourage you to visit the crash the Super bowl page, look us up by title and vote for us. Please give us 5 stars. We worked so hard, but we also had a lot of fun!

Other than that, I am looking ahead to 2013 and I have a few ideas floating around in my head, which include a feature film, a couple short films and perhaps a documentary, if God sees fit for it. There will be no dust settling on Dreams Come True Films, LLC any time soon.

Remember, we are on Face book and have many fan pages. Please take the time to *LIKE* each of them for us. We love our fans!

God bless you all.

What we’re doing now

Oct 12, 2012 | Posted by under Uncategorized

Hello everyone,

Last weekend we began filming our first television pilot! We filmed with some awesome actors & actresses with a long history of performing on the stage. We filmed a total of 10 scenes in two days. On October 20 and 21 we will film the final 7 scenes. We invited the media to visit us on set and on Sunday the 7th, the Terre Haute Tribune Star reporter, Brian Boyce came and interviewed us, while the guys were bowling. I have so many people to thank for helping us get our first weekend of the TV pilot under our belts……

Gosh, where do I begin? So many people to thank: Larry Wagle for being the best chauffeur to our little actress, Debbie & Jim Elsberry for hosting us and allowing us to film in their beautiful home, Russ @ Paradise Bowl for allowing us to film there on Sunday, Ramona Jones for making delicious lasagna for the cast & crew on Saturday & for coming to the rescue on Sunday, Christopher Beard for making so many important calls for me, Laura Reed for opening up her beautiful home for us to film, KFC/Taco Bell (Steve Morris) for a great dinner donation to cast & crew, Dave Flowers for driving six hours round trip to do Key Grip and PA work for us, Mark Beard for running our errands, Daniel Beard for being the best darn film director & DP, our superb cast of actors for sharing your talent with us, Brian Russell for loaning us the Eagles for filming, the children who dressed up to trick-or treat for us, to those who participated as extras & to Brian Boyce & Bob Poynter of the Tribune Star for visiting us on set!!! I am so sorry if I accidentally left anyone out! I feel like I just gave a speech at an awards ceremony! ♥

We are going to have an amazing time filming in Indy on the 20th. The ladies of the pilot will be involved in a lingerie party, which should be a hoot! This past week, I have been putting up short clips of the pilot for our fans to see what we have filmed so far. We hope you have enjoyed them.
Every day we get a little closer to a release date for In a Cage, which has been our primary concern. We’ve hit several snags, but we will not allow those snags and those folks who are behind the snags stop us from getting where we want to be…..where we have worked so hard to get! We’re on a mission and that mission is to put out the most amazing feature film on domestic abuse that we can release. We owe it to our patient & loyal fans and we especially owe it to every woman who has been a victim of DV.

I vow to all our loyal fans (especially Debbie Elsberry & Marilyn Milligan) that we will continue working very hard until the films are out and available for you all. I don’t think a day goes by that someone doesn’t ask, “When will the movie be out? I can’t wait to see it, it’s going to be great!” and that makes my heart overflow with happiness, so thank you fans! Please stay tuned. Please keep telling your friends about our films and don’t forget our fan pages on Face book:

Please give every single one of these fan pages a *LIKE* to show your support. And be watching Facebook for teasers of the films!

Update: What we’re working on now

Sep 19, 2012 | Posted by under Uncategorized

Hello friends & fans! I hope everyone is doing well. I’m doing better…it’s only been three weeks since my last update. I am staying as busy as always! We have two feature films currently in post-production, and we have a TV sitcom in pre-production.

First: ~ IN A CAGE ~ I already have two distributors (one in the UK) waiting to see an early copy of our first film. In addition to the distributors, I also have a film broker who would like to watch our film, with interest of representing me as a client. We are probably three weeks away from being able to give these folks what they yearn for….what our fans also yearn for! We are so close I can almost taste it! And actually, the closer we get, the harder it becomes to sit & wait with patience. Why in the world is it so hard to have patience? If I could hand a copy over to these folks by October 17, it would be the most awesome birthday gift I could receive.

In the meantime, I am trying so hard to stay so busy that I hardly have time to think about IAC.
I am currently working side by side with the assistant to the editor, Christopher Beard (my son) and we are watching every single take of ~ THIS PROMISE I MADE ~ to eliminate the takes which are unusable for one reason or another, and then carefully judging each of the decent takes and labeling them into three categories so that we can make our editor’s life a whole lot easier once he receives the work. For instance, today alone, Christopher & I watched 185 clips from our wedding scene! Now that’s a lot of clips! It’s very interesting though. I did not have the privilege to do this for In a Cage and so I am truly enjoying having a hand in the editing process for my second film. Every executive producer should do this! After all, no one works hardly than the screenwriter and executive producer to make the film a reality. So for this reason, I would suggest every EP have something to say about which clips are used and which ones are not. I am very grateful to Christopher. He has put in far more hours than I have. I don’t know what I’d do without him. He’s doing a remarkable job. Thank you Christopher!

And for the upcoming TV Pilot ~ Old Folks Like Us ~ last week, my director (Daniel Beard) and
I auditioned three senior citizens. One actress and two actors drove to Clinton to audition and all three of them blew me away and made me laugh until I cried! All three of them were cast on that day! Now I have another two or three coming in next week to audition and I will be 90% done with casting if they are chosen as well. The best part is all these actors have been working together on stage, for years and work very well together.

We will film on October 06 and 07 in Clinton and in Paris, IL and then on October 20 and 21 we will film in Indianapolis. And as soon as editing is complete, I will begin pitching it to networks. And then maybe, just maybe I can force myself to take the much needed break I promised myself and my husband that I would take. When we wrapped production on TPIM, I told him I would take a year off. Two weeks later, I was filming “GUILTY” and a week later, I was casting for our TV Pilot. I don’t know why I can’t sit still.

Anyway, I vow to all our loyal fans (especially Debbie Elsberry & Marilyn Milligan) that we will continue working very hard until the films are out and available for you all. I don’t think a day goes by that someone doesn’t ask, “When will the movie be out? I can’t wait to see it, it’s going to be great!” and that makes my heart overflow with happiness, so thank you fans! Please stay tuned. Please keep telling your friends about our films and don’t forget our fan pages on Facebook:

Please give every single one of these fan pages a *LIKE* to show your support. And be watching Facebook for teasers of the films!

Here is what’s happening with Dreams Come True Films

Aug 27, 2012 | Posted by under Uncategorized

Dear friends and loyal fans,

It has been a month almost since I last updated our page with new information for you. I hate that!! I really hate that I have been slacking in my duties to update this page. After all, this is where it starts. Whether by accident you are searching the web and stumble upon our page, or if you heard about us somewhere and deliberately looked us up, I want to have all the latest updates for you on here. So I do apologize.

The old devil has done it again! He has placed people in our path that only hurt us and try to make us vulnerable to things we don’t want in our lives, but I thank GOD that HE is so much bigger and more powerful than the dirty rotten devil and his people. We are no strangers to the devil’s tricks, unfortunately. Be we are also no strangers to what GOD can do. In under one year, DREAMS COME TRUE FILMS, LLC has produced two feature films and one short film. That is no small feat! We keep praying and we keep believing GOD has marvelous things in store for us, as long as we are obedient to HIM.

So I know that our fans have been waiting for such a long time to see IN A CAGE be released. And believe me, no one wants that more than I do. We wrapped production of IAC last November. It has now been completely edited, but now we must let our new post production sound editor do his work and also add in the special music provided to us by Jeremy Bryan, who I like to call Music Man. If I may, I am going to speculate that now, IAC may be ready by late October. Who knows, maybe it will be ready by my birthday! Please remember, anything worth having and having in an exceptional manner….is worth waiting for. While we all regret the constant delays in release, I promise it will be worth the wait.

As for THIS PROMISE I MADE…..oh Lord, so many things went astray with this film! In addition to there being too many re-casting issues in this film, there were also some dishonest people involved as well. It seems everyone will tell you what you want to hear, just to get a foot in the door, and then you see the real truth once you’ve spent countless weeks with the people in question. Don’t get me wrong, we have been extremely blessed with the making of TPIM, but we were also targeted by the devil, as he does not want to see this family film be successful. But it will be! Sometimes we just have to sit back and pray and wait for GOD to work it all out. That is what I am doing now, with the help of some awesome prayer warriors. We are taking our time with post production of TPIM. We do not expect it to be ready for release until 2013. So please, be patient and keep praying for us. Prayer is the very best gift you can give to us, and we covet those prayers.

We are also very proud that we are listed on IMDb (The Internet Movie Data Base.)

Next up for DREAMS COME TRUE FILMS & Candy Beard, we are currently casting for a television pilot we will film in mid to late October, here in Clinton. This is a family friendly sitcom about senior citizens, for senior citizens. I’ve often been told and I agree, that there are just not enough clean comedies on TV these days. There is too much smut, too much emphasis placed on sex and drugs and being drunk…..you get the idea. So my TV pilot will be filmed and shopped around to the networks, beginning with
TV Land I think.

And looking ahead to the new year, which will be here before we know it, I am planning to film a short called Cries Unheard, which is about child abuse, and then I want to move on to my next feature film, Vanished, which is based on a novel I wrote in 2007, same title. So as you can see, there will be no dust settling on me anytime soon.

Well I guess that’s all for now, other than to remind you all that we can be found on Face book. I have fan pages for all of my projects and it is my hope that you will look us up and *LIKE* us, to show your support. Please also feel free to share our pages with your friends to spread the word about DCTF and our projects.

I am on Facebook also. Feel free to add me as a friend.

Remember our motto: “We’ll make movies you’ll want to see!”

God Speed,
~ Candy ~
